Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m / 19,341ft) is the highest peak in Africa and the world's tallest free-standing mountain. Rising dramatically from the surrounding plains near the Kenyan border, Kilimanjaro's iconic snow-capped summit is one of the world's most recognised natural landmarks.
Unlike technical Alpine climbs, Kilimanjaro is a trekking peak — no ropes or technical climbing experience required. Seven official routes of varying length and difficulty traverse the mountain. The Machame Route (7–8 days) and the Lemosho Route (8 days) offer the best acclimatisation profiles and summit success rates.

The right time to visit depends on what you want to see. Here's your seasonal guide.
January to mid-March and June to October offer the clearest skies and best summit conditions. January–March is cold but clear; June–October is dry with excellent visibility. Avoid April–May (long rains) and November (short rains).
