Tanzania's Hidden Gem — Canoe Safaris, Colobus Monkeys & Kilimanjaro Views

Arusha National Park is Tanzania's most underrated wildlife gem, located just 32km from Arusha city and easily combined with any northern circuit safari. Despite its small size, the park packs in extraordinary diversity — lush montane forest, alkaline Momela Lakes, the dramatic Ngurdoto Crater, and the slopes of Mount Meru.

The park offers Tanzania's only canoe safari, paddling alongside hippos and flamingos on the Momela Lakes. Walking safaris led by armed rangers let you track animals on foot — a rare experience in Tanzania. Colobus and blue monkeys, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, warthog, and flamingo are all regularly encountered.
