Explore some of the Indian Ocean's most spectacular reefs. Zanzibar and Pemba Island offer world-class diving — manta rays, turtles, reef sharks, and extraordinary coral gardens.
Tanzania's Indian Ocean coastline hosts some of East Africa's finest scuba diving and snorkelling, with warm clear water, abundant marine life, and pristine coral gardens. Zanzibar's protected Mnemba Atoll — a UNESCO-recognised marine reserve — offers world-class snorkelling just 20 minutes from shore. The more remote Pemba Island delivers dramatic underwater walls rated among the Indian Ocean's top dive sites.
Whether you're a certified diver exploring Pemba's deep walls or a snorkeller watching sea turtles in Zanzibar's crystal lagoons, Beryx Travel connects you with the best licensed diving centres and marine guides. We integrate diving into bespoke Tanzania itineraries that combine safari and sea for the ultimate East Africa experience.
PADI-certified dive masters brief you on site conditions, hand signals, marine life to expect, and safety procedures. Equipment fitting and checks completed before any dive.
Speed boats transfer to dive/snorkel sites (20–45 minutes). At Mnemba Atoll, snorkellers can enter directly from the reef edge. Divers descend to reef walls at 10–30m depth.
At Zanzibar: coral gardens, giant moray eels, octopus, reef sharks, turtles. At Pemba: dramatic drop-offs with pelagic fish, barracuda, groupers, Napoleon wrasse, and seasonal manta rays.
Full-day dive packages include two dives with a surface interval on the boat or beach. Lunch is served on the dive boat or at a beach restaurant before the return transfer.
East Africa's premier snorkelling site — a protected marine reserve with extraordinary biodiversity just offshore from Matemwe.
Pemba's underwater walls drop to 100m+ — rated among the Indian Ocean's top 10 dive sites with exceptional visibility.
Seasonal manta ray aggregations at Pemba (December–February) are among East Africa's most spectacular underwater encounters.
Green and hawksbill sea turtles are resident in Zanzibar's warm waters year-round — snorkellers encounter them regularly.
From tiny neon gobies to massive bumphead parrotfish, Tanzania's reefs host extraordinary diversity.
All partner dive centres hold PADI certification with experienced divemasters, safe equipment, and full insurance.
